Santorini is much more than a pretty face. The picturesque region has witnessed one of the world's most powerful volcanic eruptions and is home to a variety of historical treasures. Because of its spectacular views and gorgeous sunsets, Santorini has evolved from completely unknown to a must-see destination in a surprisingly short period. The little whitewashed communities located on high, craggy cliffs, their bright blue windows and rooftops mirroring the summer sky, are the most famous features of this volcanic island in the Aegean Sea. The island has a wonderful history to learn about, with many more significant historical figures.
